Teen Talk
Bob Mortimer's secondary school programs deal with current issues of importance to adolescents and teens, including difficulties associated with self-esteem, attitudes and substance abuse.
He offers real life solutions for young people in these presentations, advising them, for instance, to accept themselves and their bodies, stressing that we will never be our best wishing we were somebody else.
On this topic in particular, Bob speaks directly to young ladies. "Don't get fooled into thinking that you have to shape your body into something you've seen on television or in a teen magazine," he says. "Those are unnatural bodies that are cleverly presented for marketing and advertising purposes. If you're healthy and fit, that's all you need to be!"
In Bob's honest, conversational style, he additionally addresses the issues of prejudice, teasing and put-downs. "No matter the shade of their skin, the way they walk, the way they talk, where they wear their earrings, anything, everybody deserves the same dignity and respect," Bob advises. "We can never be our best by bullying, or mocking, with the thought that it will make us feel more important than others."
Bob's story is one of taking the wrong road when he was young. But he turned from alcohol and drugs after a debilitating accident and now communicates his theme of "Being our Best" (BOB) to audiences across the country. For those whose lives are affected by alcohol, drugs and family struggles, it's an amazing message of hope.

As with all his presentations in public schools, Bob is extremely respectfully of the issue of separation of church and state.
